The care group photo below is not necessarily one taken at an actual care group meeting. This one was a candid picture that was snapped when a few ladies from the church were enjoying a lunch outing one day together at a business which was owned by another church member.

Care Groups
... the members should have the same care for one another
(I Corinthians 12:25).
Care Groups began in this congregation in May 1988 and they have been a very successful method of encouraging a closer acquaintance in fellowship groups that are small enough to allow each person to know all of the others well. The plan called for the church to be divided into small groups to meet one Sunday evening a month, September to May. The meetings would be rotated around to different locations and the meals would be kept simple, with everyone bringing something to share. There would be time for getting to know each other on a more personal level than could ever be achieved in a church assembly. There might also be a devotional and/or discussion time about the different ministries and needs at our church. In recent years attendance on Care Group Sunday nights is the highest of the month. It makes a difference for many.
The original goal was to periodically shuffle the groups so that fellowship could be enhanced in the various parts of the congregation. This year six groups have been set up. Each member is encouraged to join the group of his/her choice.
Care Groups meet regularly on the third Sunday of each month from September through May. There will always be an abbreviated assembly at the church building at 5 PM for those who wish to avail themselves of it, and then the groups will go to different places for their meetings.
May the Lord bless us as we grow together in Care Groups!

MOPS

MOPS is about...
Celebrating Motherhood
Meeting needs
Making connections
MOPS stands for Mothers of Preschoolers. We exist to equip, encourage and develop every mother of preschooler to realize her potential as a woman, mother, and leader in the name of Jesus Christ.
We recognize that the years from infancy through kindergarten are foundational in a mother-child relationship and are filled with unique needs. Together we can move from survive to thrive!
MOPS meets the 1st and 3rd Thursday of the month
from 9:00 – 11:30 AM during the school year.
We meet at 8th & Harrison Church of Christ in Harlingen, TX.
Childcare is provided and we would love to have you
Moppets
While moms enjoy the meetings, their children are lovingly cared for in the MOPPETS program, which is designed to meet their needs with activities that encourage social growth and spiritual enrichment. Age-appropriate stories, songs, games, crafts and free play enhance their physical and creative development.
